Hey guys, I got these NGC slabs from the YN benefit auction at the ANA Summer Seminar, and I was wondering why these don't have the label. I'm quite sure they haven't been tampered with. Thanks!   Also, happy 100th post to me!  Edited by ANAcoincollector

These are typically free samples they pass out as a promotion.

You can contact the ANA and ask them. I believe that sample slabs usually have a label that says "sample Slab." |

Maybe those are a new lowest tier of grading. They'll slab it but if you want to know the grade that's an extra charge. Everything else is going to a subscription model what not this?

OK, no, those are not traditional samples; they are actually quite rare. In fact, I do not call them samples, as they don't meet my criteria.
The consensus is that these blank label slabs date to a period when NGC was experimenting with new shells. They were given to employees to take home and see if they could be opened with items around the house and how seamlessly.
(This wasn't a trivial issue. You might recall the blue label ANACS shell that could be twisted to pop open...)
Check the edge, there are three major varieties of the reeded detail (I have a picture in the Sample Slabs book).
