PCGS - This was meant to be a 40% silver Kennedy half dollar. Instead, a piece of scrap metal made its way into the coining press. Weighing just 16.3 grains, this elliptical-shaped scrap retains partial design details and is PCGS PR63.

That would fit nicely right into one section of my collection.
Thanks for posting something I would like to own.

I truly wonder if this was done deliberately at the mint?

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

If PCGS is calling it a Proof strike, wouldn't it have to be (1968 - 70-S).

Considering there were no Proof Kennedy half dollars struck between 1965 - 1967, only business strikes and SMS strikes.
