The doubling of the face and neck look more like Die Deterioration Doubling in my opinion. need better closeups of the feathers to compare doubling to that of the 1916. |

I included a picture of the whole coin. It's only on the right side just like to FS-101.

Please look at the forehead, brow, eye, chin, neck, braid, and feathers. Pull up variety vista and look at the 1916 nickel check PCGS' images of the graded 1916s. Please also check any other sources I may not be aware of.

This is Machine Doubling as mentioned before. Definitely not the same as 1916 FS-101. |

So I just checked those 6 photos over at NGCs VarietyPlus and got to say I don't think this is DDO-001. IMO just MD.

It's definitely not 1916 DDO-001. The 1916 DDO-001 has strong, distinct doubling on a number of design elements, including the tips and rachis on the first two feathers and tip of the third, the lower ribbons, the date, and portions of the portrait. Your coin does not have doubling on the tips or rachis of the first two feathers, the tip of the third feather, or the lower ribbons. The date isn't visible. Doubling on the full length of the portrait is common throughout the series, and is just Machine Doubling. Even more basically, because of the weakness of LIBERTY, I'm not convinced it is even ODV-002, which would be required for a 1916. |

After checking the 1916 DDO-001 on the NGC site, have to agree that yours is Machine Doubling. |

Don't use nic-a-date......submerge the coin in teriyaki or soy sauce for a day until the date is revealed. It will leave the surfaces of the coin more natural in appearance.
