Hello everyone, What is happening on the back of my 1878 Morgan? Doubt it's post mint damage. Any help from the pros would be greatly appreciated. Thanks *** Pictures of a screen removed by the Staff ***First two lines of the Upload Form

We need a close up of the area in question. It can't be pictures of a screen though. See if you can get a close up of that area. I just can't see the area well enough to tell what it is.

Just my opinion, but it looks like some kind of stain/substance on the coin.

some sort of dried clear substance is still covering the word "of" on other areas its fallen off and while it was still on the coin prevented that area from toning.

Hi everyone, Thanks for your input. Here are some more pictures. I've been looking for references because to me, (and I'm far from being an expert) this coin looks like it has several die breaks and cracks. I looked the VAM-222, the hot lips, and was searching for DDO and DDR. I just can't seem to see how this could be some kind of substance on the reverse. When I touch the coin, the metal is scratchy, obviously raised under OF and DO. I've included E Plurabus in the pics, makecents, but have also added more images with different angles and lighting. HELP!!!!

You can always do a pure acetone soak to see if the stain will lessen or go away. I'll leave that up to you though. My opinion still remains the same.
