1787 New Jersey Copper Variety? - Coin Community Forum

photogame Valued Member United States 101 Posts	Posted 12/29/2010 10:35 pm hi, I have this 1787 NJ copper and am curious if anyone out there might have a great knowledge of the varities. I don't have any books to identify it so with the little bit of internet search, I think it might be a maris 68-w variety, I am curious as if thats right. vermontensium Moderator United States 16694 Posts	Posted 12/29/2010 11:25 pm It has planchet flaws which were so common for these Colonial issues, as well as a slight OC strike. That would not take away from the grade. Your coin is IMO, a Maris 68-w variety (rare). It does have some corrosion on the reverse, but I would put your coin in the Fine category. photogame Valued Member United States 101 Posts	Posted 12/29/2010 11:55 pm So I looked at the past Stacks auctions, there are 3 in the past yr. , the first 2 a fine 12 and a fine 15, curious if you think they match up to mine with the lack of detail in the horse on those?
