I have a 1905 cent here and decided to give it a gander even though it is not on my list. I notice some raised areas on all lettering and the date on the obverse. On the back, I've pointed out the three letters in ONE CENT that exhibit a similar trait. The last photo is for comparison.

I'm posting this because some of the doubling examples in my guide seem extremely subtle and some of them I know I wouldn't pick up if I saw it. So I just want to double check with this one! I found the arrow tool, too.

I can't really see what you are pointing out, but I will guess weak strike pressure.

What I am pointing out is very much like the pictures I have of a 1968-D-801 DDR , PUP America. Another similar coin is 1983-103 PUP In God.

Just look at the date in the second picture. It has raised edge on the east side, although my photography doesn't do a great job of capturing everything. The letter "C" is also a good example. I don't have another Indian Head of this quality to compare, but the pictures in my guide of UNC Indian Heads are not revealing any of the traits I'm trying to point out.

I have seen this before on IHCs, and I tend to think it occurred after strike.
Unless, somebody can furnish a mechanism whereby these lines are produced as depression in a die.
From what I know of IHCs, hubbing could not cause it, and a repunched date produces an unaligned, secondary impression and not raised areas on digits (ie depressions in the die). The only mechanism I could think of is Die Deterioration, or PMD such as whizzing.

Thanks for the info. While I was at the coin shop today, I looked at some UNC INCs and didn't notice what I have here. I agree with you DV about this not appearing to be a possible die error. But the pictures of the two coins I listed above made me do a double take when I saw this.

Thanks again! I'm gonna post a VAM Morgan here later with what appears to be an odd mint mark...
