WCG is a good site, but finding coin values takes a lot of work. First you have to find your coin, look up the KM number, then click on the "Coin values" link and look up the KM number. It only lists "common date" pricing, so it won't tell you if you've got a valuable date or noteworthy variety. And only the more recent and commoner coins are listed.
NumisMaster is the website run by the people that print the Krause world coin catalogues. Click on "Find my Coin" to access the database, but you have to register and pay a subscription to see catalogue values, and the site still doesn't work very well for non-Internet-Explorer users.
NGC have gained permission to access and publish NumisMaster's data. Their
World Coin Price Guide is currently a free-to-access service, but I can't see that situation continuing forever.
All these websites use basically the same price list, the one published in the Krause catalogues. For "real world" pricing,
ebay completed listings search is usually a pretty good guide for whether or not the pricing for a particular country or series is reliable.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
