Good day everybody

I am new to this coin community. I am asking for help to identify this coin I have had in my collection for over thirty years. The picture I am attaching is hard to see some numbers above the eagle it says 680 thous.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

You have a copy of an 1851 Humbert $50 "slug" from the days of the California Gold Rush. The banner above the eagle should read "880 THOUS" which equates to 88% pure gold. All of the Humbert slugs are very rare with values ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, depending on the variety. A genuine example contained almost 2.5 ounces of gold so it would be very heavy for its size. Without even knowing the size of yours, I am confident in stating that it is indeed a copy as there are numerous differences and at best, your example might be gold-plated bronze/brass. There is a small stamp at the bottom of the reverse, can you read it?

Check out this link for a genuine example- http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...4&lotNo=2106

The picture is not high enough quality, but I am pretty certain that the word "COPY" is on the lower reverse @ 6:00 o'clock.

I don't think it's genuine because as biokemist6 said, it's more than 2 ounces of gold, which is about 60 grams, yours is 20 grams.

Still a nice piece though.
