I have an opportunity to buy this coin, but I think the seller is asking too much. I know Doucet loves these types of coins, but I would like to know what everyone thinks this coin may be worth in today's market place. It is a Gallienus AE Antoninianus. Sole reign. GALLIENVS AVG, radiate head right / SOLI CONS AVG, Pegasus right springing heavenward; N in exergue, RIC 283 Thanks JW

IMO, I would pay $25-$30 for it. It is a beautiful coin and one I do not have in my collection. What is the sellers asking price?

I will tell his asking price after everyone has had an opportunity to place their own price. I just don't want to influence anyone.

That is a nice coin! I would also give about $25 or $30 for it.

An excellent example of a popular coin - I'd pay $30 in an auction for it. I suspect your seller will be asking double that, maybe a bit more! This is just how it is with BINs and shops. If he is I'd leave it - you can get a lot of nice 3rd century coins on ebay for $50ish dollars.

I'd say about thirty would be a fair price, maybe a little more since it's so well centered. Just depends. I think it has more eye appeal than all the ones I saw on vcoins right now. They are about 26 and up to 60.
Everything is there on this coin, it's just a little flat.
I paid 55 for the hippocamp well centered with a strong strike. The obv. beard is clear and all details are crisp.

I've been waiting for your opinion on this Doucet because I know you know these coins.
The seller is asking $37.50 which I think is too high, so I've made him a counter-offer. We'll see what he thinks in due course.
Thanks everyone for you input.

I think $30 dollars is right on the money. I currently have three in my collection and the most I paid for one of them was $32 dollars with shipping included.

My gut said $25-30 first, without reading the thread--but I'm not good at pricing.

Nice coin! The most you should pay IMO for this one would be $32-33ish.

Well, the coin is mine. The seller countered my initial offer, but I was able to get the coin for $28 with the seller paying for shipping costs. I think I got a decent deal. Now I have to wait for postman to deliver it. I'll be at the mailbox everyday. JW
