Poll Question
I have more than a few different types of silver. However when I really want to think of wealth I vision all classic silver dollars.
The classic Morgans and Peace Type Silver Dollars just states wealth to me in a strange way.
What do you equate the wealth in silver too?

I voted ASE, as Eagles are loved an trusted by the masses, which always results in solid re-sale value....

Try to find genuine silver tableware by Paul Revere (if you can!) Those pieces are thousands more than coins!
The prices of Paul Revere silverware also put the prices of Faberge artwork into the background as well!
Almost like trying to find a Brasher Doubloon. That's WEALTH!

Very true Sel-69, just make sure the silver ware was made by Paul jr., as opposed to his father who also made silver ware as well, even though it would have good value, just not as much as the man who made the famous ride....
Seems like I saw one of his large rare dinner spoons bring either 1500 to 2000 on Pawn stars seems like, after the expert determined it was indeed hand crafted by Paul jr....

I went with all other 90%. I guess my love for Walkers just won't let go. I also love that common dates trade at or about spot. Of course the same can be said for Morgans as well.

I've always went with (and voted for) bars. I do have plenty of others listed above, but I am heavy in bullion bars.

Bars, I say. They just a chunk of pure silver and look just filthy rich.

I voted for bars as well. I really like the SilverTowne 5-oz and 10-oz bars. They are solid chunks of silver that are easily recognized by fellow silver buyers and sellers, and stack / store very neatly. That said, I also like ASEs, which are my favorite coins. They look terrific and contain a solid 1-oz. of pure silver. I also like Morgan silver dollars and have about 50 of them so far. They have a classic look that is very nice, especially the eagle on the reverse. Finally, 90% silver US coins, whether dimes, quarters, or halves are a great way to buy and hold silver. They are interesting from a historical perspective as well. When I was mowing lawns or washing cars as a kid to earn extra money, I was often paid with these coins. One lady even gave me a Peace dollar for doing an extra good job on her lawn. My usual rate was half that, so I was walking on air that day.

I think big 1000 oz bars are the big poppa of wealth when it comes to PMs. You never or atleast rarely see 100oz or 1000oz rounds. However for a practical purpose 90% coins are the best IMHO and while I HATE Peace dollars, I think Morgans are some seriously cool coin.

Not easy to find a buyer always for a 100 oz. bar in this economy I would figure, much less a 1000 oz. bar. Still would like to have one of each....

Oh they are definitely not practical especially the 1000oz ones. They just symbolize baller status like no other. Well those and 50 karat gems. :D

My favourite silver? I have an ancient Athenian silver tetradrachm ..... It really does feel like a genuine lump of money, with a tactile quality about it.

While I love the Morgans and Peace dollars and I certainly like the ASE I find the Maples interesting. What I like about the Maple is the $5 denomination. This sets it apart from the the ASE at a $1 denomination.

I agree with you on the Maples, MK. They are a good buy right now, in fact. Quote:However for a practical purpose 90% coins are the best IMHO and while I HATE Peace dollars, I think Morgans are some seriously cool coin. In spite of this, Chris, both $1 US coins contain exactly the same weight of silver metal and are the same purity. Not saying that this makes them the same in terms of cool factor, though. What I am saying is that Peace dollars are among the cheapest ways to collect silver bullion these days. A couple of weeks ago, my local pawn / coin shop offered me a few Morgans at $28 each. Not bad. But he also had some nice looking Peace dollars for $24 each. I bought the Peace dollars because they were cheaper per oz. of silver. I have no collector attachment to them and will cheerfully sell them when the time comes. The Morgans do have more appeal to me, so I will probably keep them for quite a while. Either way, though, there is no reason to actually dislike one form of silver vs. another.

For strictly silver I completely agree, Peace dollars usually will have the better premium compared to a morgan. But usually I would think some crappy 1964 kennedy, washington, or roosevelt to come over even more ahead (plus have the added value of being small denomination if you need to make change. heck I will buy a melted down silver spoon that looks like a nugget of poop if I know its 92.5% pure hehe.

Morgan and Peace dollars are my favorite silver coins and the ones I would most want to own as either a collection or investment. That being said, the question was what symbolizes wealth to you. I voted silver bars. When you just have giant chunks of a precious metal stacked in a vault somewhere....you're somebody to be reckoned with, at least financially.
