I posted this in the Identify Coin Forum. jwharper helped to identify for me. I thought to share it here. I am amazed it is that old!

Although it is worn, it is still pretty nice. Just for everyone else's benefit, I attributed this as:

Galerius AE Follis RIC VI 53
Cyzicus mint, AD 308-309.
OBV: GAL MAXIMIANVS P F AVG, Laureate head right.
Rev: GENIO A-VGVSTI, Genius standing left, holding patera & cornucopiae. B in left field. Mintmark MKV in ex.

I also said the value of the coin is somewhere in the vicinity of $25 or less. Here is one for sale by a reputable dealer most of us know so the prices are almost always on the high side:

If I owned the coin and wanted to sell it, I would hope for between $15-$20 and accept $12-$17.

Wow - nice find, thats gotta be the oldest coin ever found in a reject tube! There is a thread somewhere on here titled 'oldest coin found in circulation', I guess this technically was used so you just won that hands down

DANG! I need to get back to checking every week, although on the good side with the holidays around the corner there will be an increase in people exchanging their coins for Christmas shopping money!

If only coins could talk I'd love to hear this ones story.

Made in Roman Turkey I wonder how it ended up in a reject tube in the Mid-south of America 6000 miles and 1702 years later.

Who knows! Taken home by GI after WWII and left in the penny jar till someone tipped it all into a machine?

Who knows where it could be in another 1702 years and who will wonder about it then?

I suspect somebody cashed in one of those "mystery bank rolls"
You know, when the bank rolls coins...with ancient Romans on each end?
