1901 Pattern Fantasy coin
Just recently bought this coin, and would like to more about it ie. Who made it, mintage and what is it worth.
This is not my picture copied it from the net, anyway the coin seems to be silver and has a proof like finish on it, with a plain edge.

These are not really pattern coins. They are commercial fantasy productions.

They are quite interesting, and that is the basis of any commercial success that they may have. A lot of their success relates to the faithfullness of some design elements to existing issued coins, as in this case.

Unfortunately, the design in this case is somewhat anachronistic. The coat of arms depicted on this "coin" was not created until 1908.

And you can do a forum search for "patina collection" to find a few other examples from other countries being discussed. The Canadians don't seem to like theirs, judging by this thread.
