You guys may be right on both counts. It does look a bit more worn than AU50 What are the chances that there is a guy out there with a AU '32-d Lincoln graded XF45 or so?

That's obviously not an AU-50, but it even more obviously isn't a cent. This does lower my opinion of ANACS, but I already considered them below NGC and PCGS. In this case the grader was plain wrong and then whoever slabbed it mis-entered info.

Well, if the clerk mis-transcribed the denomination, who's to say they got the actually assigned grade correct?

Really for what we pay to get a coin slabbed and graded, they should be more careful

ANACS is really now a second tier service. PCGS & NGC are top dogs. Then, I even prefer ICG over ANACS. ANACS has really dropped off the map as far as I'm concerned.

I guess all you folks have never seen the numerous errors from the top two, including mint marks rattling around in the holders.

Does it lower your opinion of ANACS? If it does you should also lower your opinion of PCGS and NGC as well as similar type mistakes exist in those slabs as well.

This particular one doesn't necessarily lower my opinion of ANACS. I just see a lot of graded material as a dealer and tend to think ANACS does a poor job overall of grading and frankly, their presentation. their slabs are less eye appealing than PCGS or NGC, their grading is incocsistent at best, and aside to PCGS and NGC taking over, ICG is on the rise. As soon as ICG cuts down on its perfect 70 grades, it will be stand alone in 3rd, but still way behing the top 2. This is just my opinion, of course, and a know collectors who stay with their dear old ANACS. If no one preferred them, they wouldn't be around anymore.

The nature of the error indicates that the person who scrood the pooch was prolly a secretary, not a grader.
Mistakes are made in any organization. The key is how the situation is handled.

With the understanding that I'm unlikely to submit anything but a Morgan, regardless of this error I would not have anyone but ANACS grade for me. They are, because of John Roberts, the only choice for Morgans.

yeah, definitely a SLIDER. If I was selling the thing, I'd probably either note that this isn't an AU coin- or I'd send it back to ANACS and have them correct the grade and the holder.
No wonder nobody wants to bid on this thing.

Speaking of TPGS in general, I just got a PROOF 70 president dollar that had spots on it. Maybe they weren't there when they graded it- but they are here now.
