The management of the newspaper I work for gave me a crisp new $100 bill for Christmas.

I decided to spend it on coins, so we drove the 40 miles to Grand Junction (Colorado) and to my coin dealer.

He, and she, were in their usual good mood, and I think I did well.

Here's what I got for $100. Did I do okay?

2006 Canadian Maple Leaf
2007 Canadian Maple Leaf
1858 Flying Eagle cent, VF
Ancient Coin -- Roman, Emperor Aurelian, nicest ancient I've ever owned. Came with attractive two-page folder containing information and Statement of authenticity.
15 BU Statehood Quarters, P mint
Seven airtites
Latest edition of Coin World

75 cents back from my $100!!

Excellent! Looks like you doubled your Christmas gift. First you receive a $100.00 gift and then made the fantastic purchase. May your Christams blessings continue throughout the year.

TLS5933, Having been born in the early 1940's and then growing up in the '40s and '50s, I remember Mercury dimes, Walking Liberty half dollars, Steel Cents, etc.

Wish I could have seen the future, and collected many of the coins I found in my pocket.

As a matter of fact, I did check them.

The coin store owners sometimes toss interesting coins into your change.

There were two Buffalo nickels. Dates worn off however!!
