I am no expert but I think there were 7 different types of 1982 cents made. You are showing one large and one small date from the Denver mint.

Any experts care to confirm this?

Yep, 1982 had small and large date varieties. The top one (with the curvier 2) is the small date. There are also the zinc and copper compositions for 1982, which creates 7 possible combinations between the two mints (there is no 1982-D small date in copper). Most albums have slots for all 7, and none are all that scarce.

The 1982D Small date has to be zinc. It's the one missing so to speak.
