Almost forgot: we're putting on our annual coin show this weekend at the Las Palmas Masonic Lodge in Fresno, CA. The address is:

2992 E. Clinton Ave.
Fresno, CA 93703

Doors are open 10-5 on Saturday, 10-4 on Sunday. We have about 25 dealers who offer a good selection of US and foreign coins, currency, VAM dollars, and miscellaneous supplies. Admission is $2 for adults, free for kids, and if you buy a $5 book of raffle tickets the adult admission is included. Top raffle prize is a $20 gold piece. Free parking.

It's a nice local show and worth a stop if you happen to be in Central CA. Hope to see you there!

I live near Fresno and have never been to a coin show. Sounds great but I dont have alot of money to put into coins right now. Do you think this would be a good "first show"? I live about 30 min away. And how many people usually show up to coin shows in fresno?

Hi Rolhalo,
This would be an excellent "first show" since it's friendly, comfortable, and not too big. Jumbo shows like the Long Beach Expo can be pretty overwhelming. Our dealers are mostly regulars who come every year because they get decent business and a pleasant experience.

Our attendance over the two days runs about 500 total. Typically you won't run into any dense crowds so I expect you will enjoy it. Please check it out! If you are only 30 minutes away you might consider coming to the monthly meetings of our Fresno Numismatic Society at the same location. These meetings are a good opportunity to share your interest with other collectors. Good times!

Sounds great! I will try to make it tomorrow. If I cant make it how often does Fresno or surrounding area have coin shows? Not very often I imagine because this is the first I have heard.

Our show is annual, always on the 4th weekend in October.

The Visalia coin club puts on 2 shows a year, but those are smaller with maybe 12-15 dealers. Admission on those is free and the next one is coming right up on Nov. 5th, 2011 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Location for that show is:

Sons Of Italy Hall
4211 Goshen Ave
Visalia, CA

Update: I found several nice coins today at the show and I'll post some when I have a chance. This year is our 65th anniversary and we are piggy-backing that event with the Ronald Reagan centennial to create a commemorative medal in .999 silver (1 troy ounce). I bought one (price is $45) and it's a beauty. I'll post that as well.
