well I went to the local coin show and I found both the 2000 UNC and proof Leif Erikson they wanted $65 for the UNC and $80 for the proof and I am normally an UNC collector but the proof also came with an Iceland 90% coin as well with a mintage of 150k I figgered it was the better buy here are the pics ICELAND

I like those designs. I kept seeing those when I was searching for 2000 silver proof sets on ebay and have been tempted to get that two coin set.

Yotie, the US mint worked in conjunction with the Iceland mint to issue the set you now have.

Very nice I ordered the same set this week. I almost got the unc one since it has a low mintage of 28k.

I am always surprised that the Proof issue have a higher book value than the same Unc. issues that have a much lower mintage.
The proofs do have a better eye appeal when first issued but you risk the hazing effect after a few years which can detract from the value.
Also, on this issue it is intersteing that the US issue shows him with a beard and the Iceland issue does not,
