Actually the UNC coin does have a higher value than the proof although not as much as I would have thought given the mintage for the UNC is a LOT lower than for the proof. I bought the proof 2 coin set because I am working on completing the Modern proof set, then I can work on the UNC, which have a higher cost involved.

I had to resist adding any UNC on my x-mas wish list as I really need to finish my proof dollar set first. I almost have all the proof $.50 and I am half way through the proof dollars. As a side note, as I have researched the Modern Commemoratives I have concluded that I think a lot of them are way under valued right now. Most you can pick up for $40 or less.

Let's hope you're right on the undervalue Coinut. On the other hand, I love my set and it's not going anywhere..

Mine are not going anywhere either and I am trying to complete my sets as quickly as possible before they start going up. Considering there are 24 coins with mintage's under 50,000 and most are under $100 that seems like a steal. There is a good article on Numismaster.com http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis...icleId=15553 on this. Lol, you'd think I sold commemoratives the way I seem to be pushing them but I do not think they get the respect they deserve.

Way to go paleoguy! I'm a few years off from that milestone. Been working on my ASE set and my Modern Commemorative set, which ever comes along at my dealer as a good deal at the time. Lately it's been the ASE's but I did snag the Proof 2 coin Lief Erickson set a few weeks ago for $80.

Sincere congratulations from me to you PG ... this accomplishment ... coupled with your significant classic commemorative set ... well ... it makes you the Commemorative King of the CCF! Very well done indeed. David

Nicklesearcher and paleoldguy45 are the two collectors who are the furthest advanced on commemoratives on this sight. PG you have a strong candle to NS, my flame is only a match!

I agree with Muddler. It is a major accomplishment! I have figured I still have years to go to complete both the modern and Classic sets as I average about one coin a month, however I think I have done some justice to getting these complete as I have only been seriously collecting for about 2 years now.

I like both reverses of these coins. If I had to make a choice I'd pick the Viking ship. Classic!
