 Some edge wear.

There was excessive distance between the impeller wheel and the lettering die. Hence the weakly impressed letters.

Thanks Mike for your info. So is there any value besides $1? Worth holding onto this one?

There is some premium for weak lettering, though less than missing edge lettering (which brings crazy amounts of money). I saw a weak-lettering Prez selling on Teletrade last night, though I don't know what it went for, and I've seen weak-lettering Sacagaweas go for about 20 bucks.

Thanks all for the quick response. I love this site! I'll keep looking and posting what I find. It is fun being a nubie and learning so much. Every time I post I am amazed at the intelligence and integrity of the responses. You all are so generous with your knowledge it makes interacting so easy. BTW...Is there anyone that has a link to anything that shows a visualization (actual or animated) of the minting process? Or does anyone know a good inexpensive book that illustrates this process? Hubs, dies, and Cuds oh my! it gets so confusing until I can see them in action. Yes I'm a visual and kinesthetic learner. Thanks, Andy

Thanks Coop, That helps. Also I found a good slide presentation on the US Mint's website.
