It was still dark at 6:00am as I walked down the stairs outside. I saw a pick-up with a trailer parked outside. I didn't think much about it at the time since people come and go at all hours at my rental warehouses. In back of the trailer was what looked like a coffin. It was a large retangular box with a rounded top. I thought it was odd that the truck took off rather quickly once they saw me but I just chalked it up to some workers being in a hurry to get on the road. About 9:00 am, I descended the stairs again to retrieve something to drink out of my Pepsi machine. I went to put sixty cents in the machine whereupon I discovered it was gone. And, then it clicked; that coffin I had breifly glimsed in the morning was my Pepsi machine driving off. I'd had the machine about six years and it was responsible for my reintroduction to coin collecting as I eagerly mined it for the new quarter designs. I had taken out the money the night before and there were very few sodas in it but I still felt devestated at the loss of my cash cow. I was so close to catching the theives. If I had only been ten seconds earlier I might still have my coin collecting buddy.

when you first started telling your story I thought spouse moving out, then when you got to description I thought safe, only to find out both were wrong, it was a soda machine. I hate to hear about that, I can't think of anything that makes me more mad than a thief and a liar

I hate to hear about news like this... Thats too bad. With my rapidly increasing collection, I should be thinking about a safer place to store my coins.

Wow! So sorry to hear that. Look on the bright side and don't let this ruin your holidays. At least they didn't get your collection which might not have been so replaceable. I'm sure you will take precautions so something like this never happens again.

Merry Christmas To You and Happy Holidays!!
Rest in Peace

Sorry to hear about the theft.

I have been lucky down through the years, and except for a couple times where items disapeared out of my vehicle, I have avoided being robbed.

The one exception happened probably 30 years ago. And, it had to do with a collection, but not coins. I had a nice set of Presidential campaign buttons in a frame. Somebody ripped two of them out of the frame, including a McKinley button which I have never been able to replace.

There are very few things in life that make me more angry than being robbed.

The few valuable coins I own are in a safety deposit box. I hate to have them down at the bank, because I can't enjoy them when I want. However, with the nature of some people being what it is, one has to take precautions.
