RPM= repunched mintmark
OMM= over mintmark

Prior to 1990, mintmarks were applied to each working die via a handheld punch. That led to variability in the positioning of mintmarks and occasionally a mintmark would be punched twice leading to an RPM. At the time, Philadelphia prepared dies for all the branch mints. If a die was accidentally punched with two different mintmarks, an OMM would result. For obvious reasons, RPMs tend to be much more common than OMMs. Since 1990, mintmarks have been part of the hub design used to create dies so RPMs and OMMs are no longer possible.

The mint marked dies were punched with a punch from their mint. Occasionally a die was transferred from one location to a second location. The punching were placed over (most times) the previous mint mark. When it didn't cover it totally, then an over mint mark happened.
