Ok, I'll bite on this topic. I've never seen an "SGS" coin that wasn't "in their opinion MS-70". That being said, you have the coins in hand... what do you think? Are there visible scuffs, marks, scratches? Would you invest $20 bucks a coin to verify those grades? That seller, from what I understand does pay his bills on time- there's something to be said about that in this industry.

I wouldnt say they are 70 but more like 64. and I paid lot less then 64 prices for the coins so I dont think I did too bad.

so what gives with the seller? Dishonest seller? Ignorant of grading standards? A bit of both?
I mean I don't know why they insist on being the laughing stock of serious numismatists and hobbyists.

I bought a PDS steel cent set from them (seller ABSCOM)years ago, too. All MS70, of course. Now I know better but I didn't back then.
Lesson learned.

Don't blame the seller, blame the so-called "grading service".

Apparently there is money to be made selling coins in BS slabs. I doubt the seller is ignorant of grading standards. I think it is more a case of the seller just does not care.

You should blame both - the "grading service" for creating the garbage, and the seller for actually carrying it. These "grading services" are successful because sellers will carry their garbage. Chances are the coins in this thread grade MS63-64 at most and are probably dipped. They would be worth about melt in that case. Check all three for doubled dies and check the D and S for repunched mintmarks. Check the CherryPickers' Guide for images. There are a number of decent ones that command a decent premium that could easily turn your (in my opinion) bad purchase into a windfall.

if you paid around melt value in 2006 or 2007 that was probably $1.50 per coin...they are now closer to $2.50 per coin in silver value. If you have any of the RPM's or other varieties that would be a nice bonus!
SGS = Substandard Grading Service.
