Hello all, I love error coins. Am so new to it I don't have the terminology down pat at all. Learning a lot here though. What name would you give to the damage? Please don't say parking lot. Thanks in advance for any time and input you can give this.

Post mint damage. Most likely a parking lot.

It is just PMD, that is all you really need to know. There are an infinite number of ways to damage a coin and many times, only the person who damaged the coin knows what happened. In other words, spend your time learning how to identify genuine errors along with what can and cannot happen during the minting process. Attempting to hypothesize about random coin damage is a fool's errand.

Just a hint to picking up on PMD vs error. Look at the damaged area...if the damage shows fresh metal and the rest of the coin has toning or age to it, you can rest assured the "damage" is younger than the coin
