what do you make of this 1983 DDO?(hint : click the obverse pic so you can zoom in, start from liberty and from then, you'll see it, its painfully obvious) I see alot of damage of what I dont know.. but also some MAJOR hub doubling on the Obverse side. I havent seen one like this yet...I have included the obv and reverse images.. I checked
coppercoins.com but none of the ones they have match the hub doubling to this degree on the obverse side...closest one seems to be the 1983 004 but its not quite right ..thanks for your help guys :)

I think buying a real doubled die coin can discern between a Machine Doubling coin, some aren't that expensive and you will know what to look out for from then on.
Rest in Peace

macmercury, you have made an excellent suggestion! I've had my eye on a 1955 penny and now I have a really good reason to get it. LOL I'll probably look for a less expensive option, but I think that is the way to go. I am having trouble telling the difference between MD and DD but I am only looking at my coins and photos.

Great suggestion. It's on my shopping list -- I'm going to a coin show Sunday.

The 1995 doubled die is quite strong and common enough to be affordable.

On all the 1983 DD's in the word "trust" the RUS is very obviously doubled...the are has a split seriff and the you is very thick and you can see doubling on the bottom part. THe middle of the S is very thick. I'm not seeing the doubling either :( Keep up the hunt...It took me awhile to understand Doubled Dies...and longer to find my first... (I still don't have it down but I'm getting alot better...Good Luck

I really doubt you'd get anything for it in that condition.
