neweden Valued Member Canada 272 Posts	Posted 10/27/2011 3:08 pm I believe this to be an Austrian thaler, with Maria Theresa on the obverse. These coins dated 1780 were restruck until 1984 with minor changes.. Report this Post to the Staff
Apollo Pillar of the Community Canada 1610 Posts	Posted 10/27/2011 5:54 pm It's a bullion coin. A restrike of an Austrian Thaler from 1780. As the real ones are worth a bunch, the Thaler restrikes, as any other bullion coin, are worth around melt. (For this one,around $25). There were only around 25-50 originals and 300 000 000 restrikes made since 1781. I have one too, bought it for 50 cents! Report this Post to the Staff
