1957 Cent Die Clash? - Coin Community Forum

joshkellogg Valued Member United States 150 Posts	Posted 10/27/2011 11:42 pm It was pointed out to me that there was a possible die clash on my 1957 cent. I checked out http://www.maddieclashes.com, and it seems like some of the type I counter clashes are very minor. On this cent, I see a strong line, the "N" from the CENT on the reverse of the coin, and a weak line protruding from just below the bowtie, even with the top of the date. Possibly part of an "E." A couple other questionable spots. http://s1120.photobucket.com/albums...t=57_4.jpgIf there's something unique remaining on the coin I'd like to protect it better than say, the small plastic bag it's in now. BJ Neff Pillar of the Community United States 526 Posts	Posted 10/28/2011 6:35 pm This is a very typical die clash for the Lincoln Wheat cent. Counter clashes are an entirely different story and must have at least two, offset die clashes to be formed. Your coin does not have two die clashes. BJ Neff Report this Post to the Staff

The counter clash is the eagle's wing seen to the left of the original wing.
