^^^ Where did you see the face value? It's odd that they are the same.

Next? How about Yap Island coins? Some of those are so heavy, they cannot be moved!

However, it is on this one. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com...10522705.cms"Australia's coin is 99.99 per cent pure and has a nominal value of 1,000,000 Australian dollars (USD 1,061,000). The gold itself is worth more than 50 million Australian dollars"

Thanks! I think the highest face value should win! I want to see a $25 million dollar coin... the Mints should put their money where their mouth is. :p

i guess we still hold out on the largest at 99999.
On a side note, one of the 100kg gold maples is coming to Toronto and will be on display. It'd be neat to see in person.

Whatever happened to quality over quantity? Purity matters and we hold that world title with our 5-9s gold. Just saying... That aside, 1-Tonne is impressive. Kudos to Perth Mint! And like someone else said, wonder why they wouldn't have supersized the face value too? Odd...

The Perth Mint always under values the face value. Much more than the RCM does. I have a 5oz silver Perth Mint Dog coin that has a face value of $ 8.00. Yes $ 8.00 If the RCM made this coin, its face value would be around $ 50.00. I know face values are symbolic but...

Quote:If the RCM made this coin, its face value would be around $ 50.00. The RCM have a 10 oz silver maple leaf issue (1998), the face value is $50. No "bullion" 5 oz issues yet, but keeping consistent with the trend, it'd be $25. (This whole face value deal don't make much sense to me anyways. The Chinese minted gold and silver panda coins/medals with no face values to begin with for that reason exactly. Wasn't until trying to expand Westward did they put that nominal number on the pandas)

Quote: Whatever happened to quality over quantity? Royal Canadian Mint, that statement is a sword that cuts both ways... I would turn around and ask the RCM the exact same question, with respect to the 2011 uncirculated sets...

^^^ I would go more... :P Quote: Whatever happened to quality over quantity? Lots of people are complaining about poor quality RCM products as well. The quality is not there. There is proof. Quality is going down. The dot matrix printing looks horrible and will look like a joke when a better processes come out. Frosting and detail is lacking due to production methods. From the pictures on your website of the coin versus the actual coin in hand there is a clear difference that the artwork and design is better on the website then the delivered product - it is not nearly as detailed which has been shown. I would not brag about recent quality in the last few years especially. The RCM's heritage is fine and lots of nice things have come from the RCM but that was a while ago. Quality has definitely gone down overall. People also complain the RCM produces too much. The RCM produces lots of NCLT"S now... it is what lots of people are complaining about. So quantity? Really? I think the RCM is guilty of producing too much as well. So I call marketing, instead of listening to a problem that the RCM can solve. You imply the RCM has higher quality and lower quantity then the other guys and that this is good. The RCM's quality is noticeably going lower. And your quantify is going up probably hurting your quality even more. But hey that's just what most people who actually collect NCLT's are saying who care more then the cash only aspect. Once you lose the true collectors... the NCLT market will plunge and hopefully everyone paid near bullion valve or really likes the coin. But both the Perth Mint and RCM put on good marketing stunts with - the big gold coins.
