It appears that Lincoln has an extra eye. Or...what could it be?

its a ruptured gas bubble between the plating and the zinc core,, or at least thats my opinion. a very common occurance on the plated cents.

Actually it's a struck through - something hard and small. A ruptured bubble would look like a popped blister. This has beveled edges.

Rick:
The little piece in the middle is the part of the planchet that was not struck thru. Picture a piece of wire (or equivalent) laying on the planchet in a circular shape. The part with the wire will be recessed, and the part (inside) without the wire covering the planchet will 'stand up'.

I guess I'm not seeing this the same way as coppercoins and Treashunt,, it looks like the center is depressed to me, and has gone into an empty or void area Like the top of a bubble has been broken out an pushed down by whatever mechanism/

But who am I to disagree .

Rick, on the first two pictures it looks sunk in to me, but on the third I see it the same as CC & TreasHunt. Of course I've read 2 opinions, so it could just be in my mind.
