I've searched through various ID websites and catalogs, with no luck. My biggest obstacle is not being able to identify the figure on the obverse, nor decipher the letters on the reverse, so I can't even narrow the scope of my search.

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

I think ancient Greek is right!

Just got a message from someone on another forum said it's very similar to "Paeonian Kingdom, Audoleon AR Didrachm. Head of Athena right in crested Corinthian helmet / 'Υ"ΩΛΕΟΝ--ΤΟΣ, horse trotting right, AY monogram under raised foreleg."

http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/gree...olean/i.html

Their opinion was that it is probably not real though.

Any thoughts?
