Just as I was leaving work today one of the tellers tells me she got a really nice half dollar. I see it's a 40% and buy it off her. I think it looks cleaned, but I'm unsure if the scratches are from cleaning or just being slightly circulated. Thanks

The coin looks fine to me, although the hue of the photo exposure makes it a little harder to tell. The coin has been circulated and is now, and likely always will be, only worth its content in silver. Thus, it actually doesn't really matter if its been cleaned or not....but no, it hasn't been cleaned

I'd say probably not, but I'm not too fond of the parallel scratches in front of Kennedy's face, so I could be wrong.

That was my thought as well.

So hesgut, what you saying is pretty much with the 40% Kennedy's (excluding 1970) since there is really nothing rare, the only value above melt is going to be uncirculated? Anyway I got home and was {over}analyzing the other Kennedys in my collection. I don't notice the parallel scratching on any others except this one. Thoughts?(sorry about the hue, guess I need a desk lamp) BTW I will drop it after this one Thanks again

Again, slight circulation scratches. Though very nice aside from that.
