Thought I'd post these as I plan to curtail my buying for a while - I'm hoping to add a 'Recent acquisitions 2/2' shortly with some nicer, bigger coins but have a nasty feeling the seller of those is going to try and stiff me so I may never see the coins!

Nothing too rare or valuable but some of these are certainly less common issues and can be difficult to find at sensible prices.

Recent-Acquisitions-1/2

This is the first and only campgate I've ever owned! I really liked the bust for some reason. I've not attributed it yet.

Recent-Acquisitions-1/2

A Ticinum Sol Issue, these are not that easy to find and some sellers want crazy money for them!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/23061558049..._2229wt_1110

IMP CONSTATINVS PF AVG - Bust right, laureate, cuirassed, from front
SOLI INVI-C-TO COMITI - Sol standing left, facing left, chlamys across left shoulder, holding globus in left hand
+ TT * - Workshop 3 Ticinum, its thought the '+' represents Christ and the '*' Constantine.
Minted 316 RIC VII Ticinum 45 (366)

Recent-Acquisitions-1/2

The first Sol issue from Lyons, after producing these coins they stopped for about two years before re-starting with an 'S F PLG' coin.

F T PLG, Needs a little cleaning and not fully attributed yet, probably RIC VI Lyons 307/310, Minted 309-310.

Recent-Acquisitions-1/2

A London issue with Sol holding a whip and having a slightly different reverse.

CONSTANTINVS PF AVG - Bust right, laureate, cuirassed, from front
COMITI AVGG NN - Sol standing left, facing left, chlamys across left shoulder, holding whip in left hand, globus in right
* PLN, Minted 310-312, RIC VI London 153 (135)

This one and the one below are not in great shape but show a variant of the Sol coins where only his bust is shown on the reverse. Again, prices can get silly quickly as quality increases.

IMP CONSTANTINVS AVG - Bust right, laureate, cuirassed, from front
SOLI INVICTO COMITI - Sol, bust right, radiate, draped, from rear
Minted 310-313, RIC VI Trier 890 (227)

Recent-Acquisitions-1/2

It was thought the double headed coins were only produced in Trier but studies have shown they was probably also produced in Aquileia, London and Ticinum, both of mine are definitely Trier coins.

CONSTANTINVS PF AVG - Bust right, laureate, cuirassed, from front
SOLI INVICTO COMITI - Sol - Bust right, radiate, draped, from rear
Minted 310-313, RIC VI Trier 894 (227)

I also have a few that still need attributing and I need to decide if I'm keeping them as they were included in lots with other coins I was bidding for.

Hopefully my dozen follis coins will arrive soon and I can upload those!

Maybe common as you say, but nice coins. I particularly like the RIC VII London 10 (98). Very clear and crisp.

I know - I'm trying to get all combinations of Constantine Sol mints, Field marks and workshops, probably about 500 coins so I'm going to have to compromise somewhat on quality, or rob a bank. As you can see by the link next to the '+ *' coin some of the quirky combinations are silly prices. Most can be picked up for around $10 though.

I agree the two headed ones are interesting Caesar381, on the look-out for the non-Trier ones atm!

nice variety and very nice coins. I need to quit buying the uncleaned lots and buy some coins with the nice patina like yours.

These London mint coins may be common in your neck of the woods, but not here in the northwest US. I like them all.
