I have been talking with two other members and we would like to try a Top 10 Commemorative post, with hopes of getting some goods pictures of some great looking coins.
Here is the plan, I will start a new post on 11/11/11 (Nov 11th). You all have time to put your list together and get your pictures ready. Any commemorative coins are welcome, classic and modern. Start with your 10th most favorite commemorative coin and each day we will post the next coin on your list.
Post each coin on your list on these days. 11/11 #10 11/12 #9 11/13 #8 11/14 #7 11/15 #6 11/16 #5 11/17 #4 11/18 #3 11/19 #2 11/20 #1
You can place the coins on the list any way you like. Some ideas are favorite design, low mintage, value or just a connection you may have with that coin.

I am seeeing some looks at this post, so I hope we do get some interest and have some members posting their 10 favorite commemoratives.
In talking with muddler he gave some good ideas on when to start, and paleoguy45 sounded like he would like to post some of the nice commem's he has.

Due to economic woes I have had to liquidate many of my commemorative gold I would have posted in the top ten. All I have of these coins are my images so I will slip one in here. 2003 w first flight $10 It will be hard to determine what are my top ten commemoratives but I have a week to decide.

Great idea! I'll get mine together and post the favorites that I own. Can't wait to see everyone's picks.

Great idea that I hope generates some interest in these lovely and historical coins... sorry that I will out of contact on 11/11/11 ... we are leaving tomorrow for a vacation to Croatia. I will be pleased upon my return to contribute some photos and descriptions from my classic silver commemorative set ... In the spirit of contributing until I return ... I leave you with a photo of this coin as one of my top-10 favorites ... PCGS MS67/CAC approved Antietam Half Dollar ... Looking forward to viewing whatever is contributed during my upcoming 11 day absence. David

Here we are at 11/11/11. I am hoping we see a lot of nice coins, over the next 10 days. Where my coins are all modern commemorative, I am thinking some members will have all classic or a mix of both. For my number 10 coin it was hard to choose, so much so that I had a tie. I mean how could I choose between Ben Franklin or Thomas Edison. Franklin showed us what electricity was and Edison showed us how to use it. (I know I am just talking in general, there was much more to it) Franklin's coin came out in 2006. I picked the UNC coin with a mintage of 58,000 For Edison coin, it came out in 2004 to honor the 125th anniversary of the light bulb. I picked the UNC version with a mintage of 92,510.
