Hello, New member here. I mostly collect Loons, Quarters and mules but I like automotive tokens as well. I have searched through the site and I have found full lists for penny's and toonies etc. but no full list of loonies. After a lot of searching on the web, book's and even ebayI have put together as much of a list as I could but I could use a little help finishing it. I'm mostly missing the coins that were proof like and specimen vs. circulation. I will be adding mintage amounts to my list as well as I get them. I have all the loon's listed here but I have no way of figuring out if some of them were PL, SP or BU. Proofs are obvious I have seen a few random errors but I do not know of any common errors. I am also looking for some more info on counterfeit loons. I have looked at a LOT of coins and I have some that don't seem to have held up very well. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. 1984 Test Token TT-100-11 1984 Test Token TT-100-12 1984 Test Token TT-100-13 2004/6 Test Token TT-100-14 1987 Loon 1987 Proof 1988 1988 Proof 1989 1989 Proof 1990 1990 Proof 1991 1991 Proof 1992 1992 Proof 1992 Parliament 1992 Parliament Proof 1993 1993 Proof 1994 1994 Proof 1994 Memorial 1994 Memorial Proof 1995 1995 Proof 1995 Peace 1995 Peace Proof 1996 1996 Proof 1997 1997 Proof 1997 Flying Loon 1997 Flying Loon silver large 1998 1998 Proof 1998W 1998 Stamp 1999 1999 Proof 2000 2000 Proof 2000W 2000 Stamp 2001 2001 Proof 2002 2002 Proof 2002 Loon Family 2002 gold double loon 2003 old queen 2003 young queen 2003 young queen Proof 2003 W 2004 2004 Proof 2004 Lucky Loon 2004 lucky silver 2004 stamp 2004 Goose 2005 2005 Proof 2005 Terry Fox 2005 Puffin 2006 2006 Proof 2006 (M) 2006 lucky bookmark 2006 lucky flying Loon 2006 snowflake 2006 baby 2006 lucky silver 2006 snowy owl 2007(M) 2007 (M) Proof 2007 swan 2007 silver rattle 2007 silver and gold rattle 2007 silver blocks 2007 Silver Wedding Loon 2008 (M) 2008 (M) Proof 2008 Lucky Loon (M) 2008 lucky silver 2008 silver wedding Loon 2008 Eider 2008 Vancouver Canuks 2008 Vancouver Puck 2008 Calgary Flames 2008 Calgary Puck 2008 Edmonton Oilers 2008 Edmonton Puck 2008 Montreal Canadians 2008 Montreal Puck 2008 Ottawa Senators 2008 Ottawa Puck 2008 Toronto Maple Leafs 2008 Toronto Puck 2009 (M) 2009 (M) Proof 2009 hockey (M) circulation 2009 hockey (M) bronze 2009 hockey (M) painted 2009 hockey (M) gold plated 2009 Blue Herron 2009 Vancouver Canuks 2009 Vancouver Mini Puck 2009 Calgary Flames 2009 Calgary Mini Puck 2009 Edmonton Oilers 2009 Edmonton Mini Puck 2009 Montreal Canadians 2009 Montreal Mini Puck 2009 Ottawa Senators 2009 Ottawa Mini Puck 2009 Toronto Maple Leafs 2009 Toronto Mini Puck 2010 (M) 2010 (M) Proof 2010 (M) frosted 2010 inukshuk 2010 Inukshuk stainless 2010 Inukshuk silver 2010 Navy 2010 Navy Stamp 2010 Navy gold plated 2010 Roughriders 2010 Roughriders gold plated 2010 Northern Harrier 2011(M) 2011 (M) Proof 2011 (M) frosted 2011 mint token 2011 Great Grey Owl 2011 Parks 2012 Double Date SP/PA Well that's it for now.... ....what did I miss

Looks like you might be missing the 2009 NHL Road Jersey set - folded heart shape.

I see the variety of Loonies grows exponentially every year. Pretty soon the Mint will drop the quarter editions and only focus on Loonies.

Don't forget the 2010 and 2011 specimen sets (with the special twoonies), those have regular loons, but in specimen finish (or is that what you are calling "frosted")?

Does anyone know the correct term and abbreviation for circulation coins, all grades. or are they given different terms depending on only on their grade. I'm wondering which would be the best way to show them on my list. And difference between Specimen and Proof Like and are they the same coins as circulation coins, only in better condition. I'm a little confused on this point as I have found and bought coins that look identical but some are listed as specimen some PL and some as being removed from a new roll. Thanks again,

I believe the designation for all business strike coins is mint state or "MS". If they were produced for circulation, then the designation is "MS C" with the C standing for circulation. If they were produced for uncirculated sets, the finish should be a little nicer then those produced for circulation since the striking method was modified and the coins received special handling and they have the designation, "MS NC", with the NC standing for non-circulating.
The Proof-like Finish or "PL" designation is used for coinage produced for sets between 1954 and 1967 and the finish is described as, "Frosted to Semi-Mirror Relief against a Semi-Mirror Background."
The Proof Finish is highest quality finish for non-circulated coins. It is designated as "PR". This is the frosted relief against the mirror background.
The Specimen Finish, or "SP" designation is another finish for non-circulating coins. These coins have a satiny matte or frosted background with a mirror relief.
Hope that helps!
I would say that most, if not all, of the loonie designs for circulation are also available in the "SP" and "PR" finishes whereas, the designs that weren't used for circulating coins only come in either the "SP" or "PR" finishes.

On a side note, you have to consider that the specimen 'look' has changed a lot in the past few years... It was once a really interesting finish. Not anymore.

I know little about loonies, but doesn't the regular reverse 2008 proof come in both sterling silver and regular metal?

Yes it does that's the one I have listed as 2008 wedding silver loon. That one seems fairly common but the 2007 silver wedding loon wow that one cost me lots :-( Only just over 500 of them made I think
