Anyone know of any decent suppliers? I need some of these (maybe 30 eventually) in dark red but all I can seem to find are blue and they are all about £5 each. Too much really, certainly if I need 30, nobody seems to sell these in 5s or 10s like they used to. Picture of what I mean. They need to be 330 x 220mm - I think thats the size Shultz and Arrowfile make them, not sure about the other makers. Moved to Coin Supplies forum - Sap

I looked for these for awhile too, a couple of months ago.
I ended up getting some black ones from an Indian jewelers supply store. But they don't have as many spaces as the one in your pic. I don't recall the price.
I'll get a link if your interested.

Yep - those are the type JW, I'll have a look around his Amazon store. If you could find the link, yes please Doucet. Black would be OK if the price was right. I need them to go into this box I've just bought. The box was a reasonable price and I want a few more if it looks good when it arrives but I don't fancy spending £30 to fill each one with trays!

bobbyhelmet here's the link.....the picture isn't accurate. The ones I got are fifty spaces 5 across by 10 long. https://eclient.ijsinc.com/eshop/de...category_id=Looks like the price is about the same as what you have found. Then you'd have shipping too. Let us know if you find a good deal on these things.

Thanks Doucet, I've used this seller before on ebay, I'm sure they have a UK branch. They at least offer discounts for multiple purchases. I'll keep my eyes open and let you all know what I find.

Well the best I can find so far are the following (based on local shipping and buying 6 branded (Lindner, Arrowfile, Lighthouse) 330x220ish trays): North America http://www.collectons.com $5.61ea Europe (Germany) http://sammlerwelt.eshop.t-online.de/ E3.35 UK http://veratrinder.org £3.18ea There are a couple of people on ebay that get close to these prices but none that can beat them. I'll keep looking but think this is about as good as it gets - One uk seller wants £7.10 per tray plus P+P! I discarded all of the non-brand ones as the quality could be suspect and it could be a total waste of a smaller amount to find out. Not great but cheaper than yesterday.

I have seen top grade coins in auctions where the describer remarks that a coin has some "cabinet friction".
Makes me wonder how this comes about.
Having made that observation, I must also remark that I have been in the safe room of the British Museum, and it is in trays such as these, that coins are stored. I was looking at Byzantine gold at the time.
Perhaps the best storage solution of all is to put your coins in mylar 2x2's and store them in in the trays as pictured above. A 2x2 kept in a tray would be MUCH better for the coin, than if the 2x2 was placed in a clear PVC album page.

Eventually it'll be an antique cabinet, although I dont currently have the £3K needed to get a nice one - I have no idea what 'cabinate friction' is but I hope one day soon to get it Quote: I must also remark that I have been in the safe room of the British Museum I'd love to spend a few hours in there, lucky boy, very jealous I've just managed to pick up 6 Red Lindner trays for £2.90ea and free delivery - I wont post the supplier yet as I've got a funny felling the delivery should not have been free, see what happens. Its twice what I wanted to pay and prob 10 times what they cost to make but they should look good in the box. I've never liked any of the storage boxes on the market and even considered making my own. Hopefully this combination will look the part without breaking the bank.

Yes, indeed! I have seen high value coins in 2x2 mylar flips, displayed in coin trays especially sized to take the 2x2's.

I went for slightly larger apertures than the one in the first pic. 27 and 34mm square, I'll have a look at the 2x2s and airtights etc but I kind of like my coins loose. Its only taken me 10 years to find a box I like at the right price I think ancients should be stored in wood and velvet, as much as I like the look of the aluminium cases, the durability of the plastic trays and the organisation of the 2x2s I just dont think they look right for old coins. I'll post some pics when I get everything delivered.
