Hello everyone,

I'm really pleased with this 1882-CC Morgan in PCGS MS64PL that I recently purchased. I didn't get a good pic of the mirrors, but they are really deep. It was recently slabbed, so it has been graded under the more stringent new guidelines for PL/DMPL at PCGS.

What I'm really curious about, however is the VAM. This is my first time trying to determine this, however I believe it is a 2C and I'll post a few closeups to help with the attribution. Thanks so much for your input!

Beautiful coin. I'm new at VAMs but I agree with 2C.
Rest in Peace

Very nice Morgan! It appears to be somewhere in the VAM 2 die stage. That die pair apparently had quite a history. I have to go check my 82CC now...

very nice coin there, How ever the pictures are not quite good enough on the "E" of Epluribus, the "Lip " area, and your coin does not appear to have the break at the cap, but there is a known early state VAM 2C also without the break,,Try to get a clearer shot of the E which will show the polishing line from the center of the E to the botton leg...
and the Lip area,There appears to be a minor clashing between the bottom lip and the chin..
also the cap is known to have slight clashing back there so you may want to tilt the coin so you can to see them clearly and shoot...I think the
E is one of the major pickup points for this VAM,

Thanks...

Thanks for the help! I have some new photo equipment coming this week which should help get better pics. The fact that this is a *very* reflective PL coin speaks to it being an earlier die state. It has the mirrors of a DMPL coin but is lacking frost. I will repost with cripser pics than my scanner could provide.
