The "Supertoner" - The (in)famous massively toned 1953-S Washington quarter, PCGS MS-67, pop 8/3, once a topic of much discussion, equal parts admiration and derision. Two camps here: you love it or you think it's the ugliest thing to ever get slabbed. Underneath all that gold, red, and copper brown toning, though, is a true beauty of a coin, provided you can look at it for that long.

This is my favorite thread to watch, more so than to post in, because posting here indicates my wallet just got thinner, but some absolutely gorgeous coins get posted here! That PL Morgan is a STUNNER, and I don't mean that in the ebay sense of the word.

Also, nothing quite beats that feeling when you buy a lot of junk coins and find a "diamond" in there, even if it's a really ugly, miscut, damaged diamond :P

Draped bust coins are my favorite coin design. This is my first Draped Bust quarter. I was very happy to see a coin with this much detail in my price range and I had to get it.

Got my first ever Shield nickel in the mail today from ebay (1867 No Rays), won the auction for $1.50 with free shipping. Also got a 1907 IHC for $0.75 free shipping from ebay that arrived today. No pic of IHC as it was nothing special to me, just another for my collection.

Here's the 1867 Shield nickel, been cleaned but for only $1.50 I didn't mind, was only looking for a new coin for my collection since I never owned a shield before.
