The 1937-D three legged and 1918-D 8/7 are part of Dansco set. These are going to cost you. I am with you on dates and horns. I want mostly a good strong date. If a coins is advertised as being in VF or EF condition then you should have a pretty distinct horn. In VF on the older Buff's the outline of the horn should at least be visible IMO. The horn, tail and date really took a beating on these coins.

Nope. I won't be including them because I don't consider them as part of the complete Buffalo nickel set. I may very well purchase a 3 legger some day, but it will be slabbed and kept separate from my Dansco. However, the album will be completely full once I get that last coin, and these "empty hole fillers" are interesting in their own right as unique hobo varieties.

The only mainline error Buffalo I lack is the 1918-D 8/7. This is for Dansco 7112. My set goes from VG to AU with most in F or VF condition. The three legged and 8/7 are standard parts of most Buffalo collections. However, I guess a set is whatever you think it is. I don't think a Lincoln set would be complete without 1909-S VDB or 1914-D. I would buy them slabbed and also keep them apart from a Dansco set. This is where you need a large Safe deposit OK.

I upgraded my 1937-S Buffalo nickel with a colorful gem, graded AU58 by ANACS. The seller stated in the ad that it looked MS to him, and I have to agree. Regardless, it is a much better example of this date/mm than the one I had. I just cracked it out a few minutes ago. . . .
