That proof set...just WOW!!!

I can only contribute some lesser coins:

1820 N-9 Large Cent (seller lost a bit of money on this one, and it's probably a very generous grade, but I paid less than it would have cost to slab it)

Thanks for the reply's.

The story of the proof set. Back in 2000 I was putting together sets of 3 cent nickels, 20 cent pieces and Shield nickels. Since I had the first three coins, I decided to assemble the rest to complete the proof set as well. Got the dime in 2000, the quarter in 2002, the half in 2003, the dollar in 2012 and the cent 5-26-2017 to finish the set. It took 17 years for me to finish.

I'm 71 and a retired truck mechanic (retired in 2003) and never had a lot of money to pursue my hobby the way some are able to. But with patience, It can be done.

Thanks again for your comments, Gary

Sometimes coins that are in super condition don't even look quite real. You get used to seeing coins in less that perfect condition and you see a coin in MS66+ and they look like aliens from outer space.

Got this 1941 Walker for dirt cheap, old white small ANACS holder, we'll see if it looks any good in hand. (Seller pictures, cropped)

I just got this to go with the '44-S "$" mintmark Jefferson and I'm pretty sure this one is a rim-to-rim reverse die crack:

Gary,

Really happy for you on the 1877 Proof Set. The old proof sets are really neat and something to be proud of. Proof Trade dollars are almost unique. I have been working on an 1883 set for about 5 years now, and have 6 of the 10 coins. It is very time consuming and expensive, though not my only project. My current goal is the 1883 dime.

This is my first post on this thread. I suppose I should post things as I get them.
