Haven't bought a US coin recently except for this to at least put a shine in that hole in my type set. Looks better in hand.

I decided to start a collection of Morgan dollars by year, and to kick it off I bought this beauty from my favorite local coin dealer.

Cleaned and scratched, unfortunately. My 1893 Morgan dollar is AG/G, but I definitely like that it has original surfaces rather than high grade and cleaned/tooled/scratched.

I have started a Morgan dollar date set as well, in a Dansco Album #7171. I am only missing 4 dates: 1891, 1892, 1894, and 1898. The most expensive one was the 1895-O at about $200.

A key yes, but looks cleaned and scratched lowering it's value and collectibility. Sorry, maybe others will agree.

I'm glad you noticed that SilverDollar - I just can't not let someone know the truth about their coin. Sorry.
