Cleaned and scratched, unfortunately.

I'm glad you noticed that SilverDollar - I just can't not let someone know the truth about their coin. Sorry.

I'm glad you told me - I suspected it when I was buying the coin and especially after I photographed it, but I wanted to trust him when he said it was an AU55. I can't afford to spend that kind of money on a coin that won't hold its value. I just emailed him asking for a refund; he apologized and will refund me tomorrow.

I'll try posting a happier purchase when I make one.

That's good that the dealer is willing to refund you. I made the same mistake on a number of occasions in the early days of my collecting, but the bright side is that each instance was a learning experience, as I'm sure this will be for you. So don't be discouraged I look forward to seeing the next addition to your Morgan set!

Good that the dealer refunded you. You may want to contemplate purchasing only certified coins by PCGS/NGC to complete your Morgan dollar set until you learn to identify if a coin is fake/cleaned/damaged.

Coronet1832 - STUNNING Walker. A person does not see these often enough. Thanks for sharing.

RubyOpal - good call on returning. If not THE number one benefit of being a member here - tapping the THOUSANDS of years of experience. At times, is EXTREMELY tough to offer absolute/correct opinions on internet photos.....but the opinion shared was spot on.

Oh, too bad about that one - you're looking at just the price of bullion for that "coin" only if it's real
