Yes, he was quite pricey, but not as bad as I thought it would be when I found him. It did set a record for me though, edging out that 1914-D LWC I got earlier this year.

For those less familiar with the series, this is truly a key. For reference, Heritage shows 136 in its archives from 63-65. For 1916-D it shows 98, so it's not quite that scarce. But for 1921 it shows 166 and 1921-D shows 203. So it's more scarce than the accepted semi-keys if you actually want to buy one.

No, not FB on this one, but a good strike for the date. I am not going to be fussy on FB on some of these tougher dates, it would be twice as expensive in this case. Some are common in FB, but others are a bear (e.g. a 1918-D in 65 is $760 on Numismedia, but $16,880 in 65 FB).
