Darth Morgan Pillar of the Community United States 2815 Posts	Posted 01/26/2019 11:45 am I recently purchased my very first MS65 Morgan dollar. It's an 1881-S, my favorite date/mm. I picked up this MS63 as well, as I couldn't resist. It's been too long since I bought some 1881-Ss. The luster on this 63 is FAR superior to the 65. I mean, it has magnificent bowl luster! I'm mesmerized.... A comparison shot showing the difference in luster. The 63 appears to have a sharper strike as well. I was struck by the design of the San Diego half and began looking for a pleasing graded MS58 example to crack out. Well, I got caught up in grade creep and ended up with this MS65 green bean.
