1851-O Liberty Seated Quarter(Type 2-No Motto).
So this wasn't technically a purchase but I felt it would still be appropriate to post here

I have a side job I do which is being the Caretaker for a beautiful historic Bed & Breakfast Mansion in the small town where I reside. The owners were clients of my father's years ago and that became a close friendship, so that's how I got the job. Anyway, long story short, the other day I was visiting with my father, and he said that the owner's had left something for me in appreciation for doing a good job And then my Father handed me this coin in a hard plastic case and immediately, I was very grateful just for the gesture, and then I did some looking into it and was a bit taken aback as it's not your average coin as far as value/rarity goes in my opinion, so I am going to be writing a very excited and grateful thank you letter to the couple. my apologies for the lengthy explanation, but I thank you all for reading

Beautiful. What a kind gesture on their part.

Edit: Wow. Just did a little googling and that's quite the gift.

Yes, quite a gift. very scarce coin.

Thank you chafemasterj & Dearborn. And yes, it was very generous on their part, and to be honest I was a little confused for a second once I looked up the coin as I just thought that I was making a mistake

Wow, what an incredibly generous gift! It's a nice coin. Looks like an old cleaning that has toned. Definitely worth grading if you can!

As a collector and investor in coins I will this is a very poor way to tip someone. It's a $2,000 coin that most recipients would take to a pawn shop and be lucky to get $500 out of. The "tip" then goes to the pawnshop owner.

If you want to leave a $2,000 tip, leave cash so the person has the money. Sell the coin to another collector who will value the coin.
