I pulled this 1909 S VDB for an "unsearched" by from my local dealer. It don't have the Copy stamp for not being authentic. I has the proper size and weight, but doesn't seem right to me for some reason.

The two pictures I have uploaded are a little unclear.

I will upload more very soon.

Thank-you for any help.

A close-up of the mintmark area will aide in authentication. Also, if you could check the weight on a little scale then that would help.

I will do that in the am, I was trying to get the scanner to get a clear shot of the coin but am going to wait until I get my camera returned tomorrow. Thanks for looking and I will get better pictures around 10 AM.

From these pics I would say no. The VDB looks out of place.

with Las_Vegas_Larry --> from these pics, the VDB looks centered between the stalks...on my VDBs in hand, the VDB is to the left, with the V almost aligning with the left stalk bottom.

Closer, better pictures will help us to be more conclusive....

Yes could really use better and closer pictures. Try dipping it in Acetone. One of the tricks is to Epoxy Glue info on coins and the Acetone might dilute that and the info would fall off.

Still hard to tell with those pictures but to me the s looks off to the right where it normally would be. Just doesn't look right to me. Sadly someone could have taken a regular 1909 and added the vdb and mint mark. Others thoughts?

I feel the same way but don't want to condemn any coin before I'm sure. If its a fake its pretty good.
What value would be on an unmarked copy?

Initially I was going with a fake, but with the updated pics I just don't know. I'll wait for BadThad to make his call.

Looks like a cast fake. Look at the indentation on the shoulder and the motto on both sides. Crappy Chinese fake in my opinion.
