Is this a repunch or even though applied by hand still considered Mechanical Doubling ?

The doiubled die is something completely different. There are literally thousands upon thousands of die varieties that are NOT listed in the Red Book, and this RPM is one of them.

Stmpcol - Your coin is an RPM.

Amac44 - If you're into die varieties, perhaps you might want to get a specialty book for them. The Red Book is a VERY poor guide to die varieties.

First confirmed one, although now that I know what I'm looking at, I have others. Must be quite common during the silver years.

There are many RPM's and even quite a few for 1943 P's.
Good luck.
