1988-P Jefferson Nickel - No FS Initials

This is the first no-FS I've found, but I didn't know there was one for this date. There is no detectable trace of the initials, so I think it was polished off the die rather than being plugged with grease.

Looks like they were polished off the die. That area does have devices that could leave clash marks and were removed by one of it's many polishings.

I don't have a high opinion of a lot of these die-state related errors, or grease plugged dies, because they're really common as a class, but some of them really attract a lot of attention (e.g. three-legged buffalo, "In God We Rust", 1922 no D or weak D, speared bison nickel, no FG halves). I've known about no FG halves for a long time, for instance, but never looked for them because I thought they were stupid, but then I saw that this guy sold a 1972-D no FG on ebay for $160!
