So, I was pretty excited to find (what I believe to be) a proof cent today in a bank roll. Does anybody else see any doubling on ONE CENT? Particularly the T. Also, some funniness around the memorial. I'm not sure if it's a result of Machine Doubling, or a die, or what. It's not listed on coppercoins.com Thanks guys

I see the same thing but I couldn't tell you what it is. I see lots and lots of coins with those kinds of marks and I don't think it is really considered an error.

But I'll check back to see what the experts have to say.

Coop,
I always trust what you have to say, you really seem to know your stuff. In an effort to learn something, I'd love to know which features on this coin led you to your conclusion. Is it the lack of defining lines in each letter, or the fact that the "doubling" is on the memorial as well as the letters? Or something else? Because this is such a strongly struck coin, I can see the details clearly, and can probably see exactly what you're on about. Thanks.

The double post was caused by using a tablet computer that belong to a friend. I didn't notice the double post then.

Josh: The image was pretty small on the tablet, but the overall devices are'nt enlarged like a doubled die would be. The absence of splitting/nothing isn't present. On a doubled die an overall stretching would be visible:

Just certain areas are affected. It maybe split plating, but I don't feel it is a doubled die.

So does the fact that this is a proof and slightly machine doubled make it any more collectable?
