Hi, I have this 1887 Gold sovereign that I need some info about.
It seems to have either the old head or jubilee head with the shield on the reverse.
I Have searched and found there to be many types of this coin.
Now I know the pictures aren't great so I will include pictures I found on the Internet. But can any tell me please exactly which type this is and possibly how much it would be worth?
These pics are of my coin.
Also can anyone tell me where to find the mintmark please, thanks

that's a Jubilee Obverse and Shield Reverse.
Next, you need to look for a mintmark: below and between the two eights.
The tricky bit is: no mintmark = London.

Thank you Peter, I haven't the coin in my possession at the moment but believe it has no mint mark, making it London.
I have seen this coin on the Internet for $2950, does that sound right from your knowledge?
It's quite hard to tell with so much conflicting information on the net.

I'm not really up on gold prices - but at local auctions they tend to go for £400 - £450
