I wasn't sure where to post this in the coins or the stamps forum. My question, does anyone know if there is a grading company NGC PCGS or otherwise that can put an encased stamp in a hard plastic holder?

do you want it graded or simply in a plastic holder? I doubt most TPG will slab it, but you could buy a DIY slab.

i really just want it in a slab. I'm afraid to touch it cause I feel like I'm going to tear it.

Just for arguments sake is there a company out there that would grade an encased stamp. I'm really curious as to how it would be graded. I would think they would need to give it two seperate grades one for the stamp and one for the casing.

There's one stamp grading company that I know of that slabs stamps into hard plastic holders called PSE (Professional Stamp Experts). Here's their site: http://www.psestamp.com/Hope this helps.

I don't know if NGC would do it but I would think SEGS would probably do it. I don't know who it was but I'm fairly sure I have seen a slabbed Encased postage piece before. Try doing a search for them on Heritage and see if any show up as slabbed. Nope a quick look at Heritage doesn't turn up anything. Only thing I would worry about would be what the ultrasonic welder might do to the mica window. Don't know if it might cause cracking.

Are you refering to getting stamps graded and certified or encased stamps that were used for advertising and as currency during the civili war?

The encased postage from the civil war. Sorry about the mix up.
