A little background:
I'm strictly a Canadian coin collector (living in Canada and all) but today...

I went down to the local flea market and my regular coin guy wasn't there so I took a risk (without doing my homework first) and bought some US silver half dollars from another vendor.

1946
1954
1956

for 10 bucks a piece.

Just wondering if this was a good buy or not.

Thanks.

CoinCanuck, I feel that you did well, U.S. junk sliver (not calling yours that) is around 25 times face (which would be 12.50 for a 90% hal dollar). Bravo.

That was a great buy!

At the current silver prices, I would buy US 90% silver halves all day long at $10 each if I were able.

Thanks everyone for the information and input.
If he had more I would probably go back and get some more. The Walking Liberty kind of grows on a person. Very nice coin.

Thanks again.

Walking Liberty is my favorite U.S. coin design. How much detail does it show? When all of the detail is there it is a gorgeous coin!

Wish I could post a picture.
Not sure how these coins are graded but I like it.

The eagle side has lots of details stil on the primary and secondary feathers and all the writting is very clear.
The liberty side has some wear on the front of her dress and face but everything else(sun, back foot/dress and details behind her head, date, writting) are very clear.

Hope this helps.

This could be the start of a new sub collection.
